Some memories you can't shake. You can stop carrying them in your body.

An AI coach walks you through structured EMDR-informed sessions at your own pace. Available the night something surfaces, not three weeks from now when you've already pushed it back down.

    What it's for

It doesn't have to be "big" to still be running you.

A look from a parent. A meeting that won't leave your chest. The thing you keep apologizing for years later. If it still gets loud, that's enough.

    Your map
    live
    If you're here,

    you already know the feeling.

    The same fight.
    The same shutdown.
    The same loop.
    And the worst part.
Knowing exactly what you're doing while you do it doesn't make it stop. You watch yourself fall in. Again, and again, and again.
    Your vocabulary

You've read all the books. You could write a dissertation on yourself.

    attachment style,boundaries,burnout,imposter syndrome,catastrophizing,people-pleasing,codependency,inner child,self-abandonment,trauma response,the inner critic,emotional regulation,shame spiral,nervous system.

    And still, nothing actually changes.

    Underneath all that.

the parts you don't usually say out loud:

Maybe I'm just not trying the right things.

Maybe deep down, I don't actually want to change.

Without my problems, who would I even be?

Here's what no one tells you

We don't think there's anything wrong with you.

What you carry isn't who you are. It's what happened to you.

The bracing. The looping. Reading every room before you walk in. You built all of that to get through things you didn't choose.

    But that's not your future.

You don't have to keep carrying it.
    What stays the same

Six months from now, if nothing moves:

The body still tenses for a fight that's already over.

    The same loops still loop.

The same drive home, the same dread.

The same shame after each "I should be over this by now."

The vocabulary keeps growing. The pattern doesn't.

    What changes

What you couldn't do alone before, you can do now.

01 / All the way through

The real work, not a stripped-down version.

Most apps give you one piece of the technique and stop. Floatback runs the whole method, start to finish.

    All eight steps

Opening something painful on your own can leave you raw, unless something walks you back down afterward. Floatback runs the whole process, every session, so you end steadier than you started, not torn open and alone.

Each step runs, every session. The coach can't skip one, and neither can you. That's what keeps it safe to do on your own.
02 / One coach, two rooms

One coach. Two ways to meet it.

Some nights you need to work on one thing. Other nights you just need to talk and find out what is going on in there. Floatback has a room for each. Same coach in both. It never hands you off to a stranger.

An Explore conversation, where you talk and the coach maps what you are carrying

A room to talk it through

An EMDR session on one memory, run by the same coach

A room to work on one thing

And it reads the room. It knows when you need a question, when you need one specific move, and when you just need it to stay quiet and listen.

    03 / THE FLOATBACK MAP

    See that you're actually changing.

Most apps give you a session and a session log. Floatback gives you a map. As things move, the map changes. You don't just feel different over time. You can see what shifted.

    See what shifts

Every memory you work on shows up here. As it loosens, you watch it move from heavy, to working on it, to settled. On a hard day, you can look and see how far you've come.

    04 / It knows you

It remembers you. And it learns you.

Every other app makes you start from zero, every time. Floatback remembers your story. Where you left off, what you have already moved through, what tends to grab you. The more you use it, the better it knows what you carry.

    No starting from zero

It greets you where you left off, not with a blank screen.

It knows what you’ve already moved through, so nothing has to be retold.

It notices which ways of helping actually land for you, and reaches for those.

Its skills keep growing. The coach you meet next month knows more than the one you met today.

I built Floatback because it changed me first.

I'd never really gone to therapy. I'd tried it and quit. I didn't think it was helping. I think I wasn't ready to confront anything, really. I bounced off everything an ADHD brain bounces off of.

Eventually I did EMDR. And it was life-changing. Absolutely amazing.

It woke up something new in me. I felt different, and I kept doing it, and I continued to feel different.

I started seeing how many of my most vivid childhood memories were stories of an unseen, hurt, humiliated kid. My therapist helped me meet little me. A boy who was scared, alone, feeling like a disappointment. After the first rounds of EMDR I was lit up with new life. Resilient. Calm. Level-headed around the house in a way I hadn't been before.

I'm a financial coach by trade. After my own EMDR work, I started recommending it to clients. Once you process the trauma underneath the money story, the practical stuff actually starts to work.

When I wanted to keep doing the work between my own sessions, I tried the self-guided EMDR apps. They had me name a memory before I'd even settled in. Walk in cold, pick the thing, follow the dot. No warmth, no moment to settle, no way into the headspace the work actually needs.

So I built Floatback. For the days you're not in the chair, and for the people who can't get there at all.

I built it to feel like what I knew from the real thing. It took a lot of routes and tinkering before the architecture settled. The coach reads from a library of moves I pulled from the published EMDR research. The same eight-step shape EMDR uses is held in the code, so the coach can't skip a step or move on until the work in that one is done. The model serves the structure. It doesn't improvise.

Using it on myself, it kept opening things up. New things to learn. New connections. More softening of what my past had been doing to my future. That's when I knew it was real.

    How it works

Notice it. Work it through. Feel it lift. Come back.

    Step 01

    Explore

Tell the coach what's going on. You don't have to name the big thing first. You start where you are, and it helps you find what's underneath.

    Nothing to prepare.

An Explore conversation: you talk, the coach finds the thread underneath
    Step 02

    Build your map

What you talk about becomes a map you can see: the patterns you carry and the memories under them, in one place.

    Take your time.

Your map: you at the center, your threads and memories around you
    Step 03

    Work it through

Pick one thing and do an EMDR session on it. The coach runs it. You turn your phone sideways, the room goes dark, and you follow the dot.

Pause anytime. A stop button stays on screen.

The dot room: the screen goes dark and a warm dot leads your eyes, with Stop always visible
    Step 04

    Feel the weight lift

When something loosens, you feel it. Floatback checks back in later and shows you the charge going down, so you can see it working, not just hope it is.

A check-in trend: how often it shows up and how strong it is, both easing

Open it for ten minutes. Open it again tomorrow. Piece by piece, the weight gets lighter.

    No card.

    The part we're proudest of

Going deep is only possible because you're held.

Other self-guided tools hand you a powerful technique and walk away. Floatback was engineered the other way around. The coach paces you. It notices when something is too much and slows down, or stops, and helps you settle before going on. And if what comes up needs a human, it says so, plainly, and points you to real support.

The dot room with the Stop button always visible in the corner

A stop button stays on the screen the whole time.

The calm room: a breathing circle and a grounding exercise

A calm room is one tap away, always.

A rating card with its Not now option: nothing is ever forced

Every question has a "Not now." Nothing is forced.

That is not a limitation. That is why you can finally go deep on your own.

Still with you. One more thing before you decide.

    Still with me?

    Here's everything, in plain terms.

    01What it is, plainly

Floatback is a self-guided app where a coach walks you through EMDR-informed sessions. It's for people who understand themselves but still can't move past it. This is the part that helps you finally move, not just understand it better.

For when you've understood it. And it's still there.
    02What it isn't, said plainly

Floatback is a coaching tool, not a clinical service. It's not a substitute for a therapist if what you're carrying needs one. It's also not a chatbot pretending to be a friend. It's a structured, EMDR-informed coach that knows when to ask, when to slow down, and when to stop.

    This is not therapy

Floatback is a self-guided coaching tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional care.

If you're in crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741).

What this work has been for me
"I'm not becoming 'good.' I'm learning to love myself and respect myself."
    David, founder
    The Quiet Room

Slow, honest writing on the work itself.

Honest, research-backed essays on EMDR, working through hard emotions, and the slow work of feeling better. No jargon, no hype.

    Read in The Quiet Room
    The shift

The memory's still there. It just stops running you.

    Before

    It grabs you.

The memory pulls you right back in, like it's happening now.

    After

    It lets go.

It's just something that happened. Not something happening now.

    One last thing

    A few questions, answered honestly.

No. Floatback is a self-guided coaching tool that uses EMDR-informed techniques. It doesn't diagnose, treat, or replace professional care. If what you're carrying needs a therapist, please find one. And use Floatback alongside, not instead.

The rest you find out by opening it.

One conversation is where it starts.

You don't have to be ready. You just open it and start where you are. Your seat is still open.
